A network for doing good effectively.

We are a community of people working in finance who care about increasing our positive impact. We have meetups in London, New York and at EA Global conferences.

If you are working in finance and are interested in connecting with us, we’d love to hear from you.

Feel free to email hello@eafinance.org with any questions. You are also welcome to join our LinkedIn group.

What is effective altruism?

Effective altruism is about working out how we should help others, using evidence and reason. And it’s about acting on the basis of what we find: focusing on effective solutions to the most pressing problems.

Effective altruism is also a network of people who aim to do more good with their time and/or resources.

Here's a short summary of effective altruism with links to more resources.

How can I have impact in finance?

You can have a positive impact in many ways, including donating to effective charities or leveraging your skills to switch into a high-impact job.

How can I maximise my donation impact?

You can follow the advice of charity evaluators which research cost-effectiveness, such as GiveWell, the “gold standard for giving” in for global health & development. Giving What We Can have a list of charity evaluators and brief evaluations of them.

You could also join a funding circle and talk to other donors and researchers looking to fund neglected opportunities.

Here is an overview of effective giving with links to discussions and questions on the topic.
